Location and Aircraft
The Pittsburgh Flying Club is based at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and owns an IFR certified 1976 Piper Archer II. Our regular meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. the first Monday of every month in the Christ Episcopal Church Annex at 426 North Maple Avenue, Greensburg, PA. Guests are welcome.
Membership
The club is 20 pilots strong and is accepting new members. You must have at least a Private Pilot's certificate in order to fly the club aircraft as we don't do primary flight training, but using the Archer for obtaining advanced ratings is permitted and encouraged.
Why Join?
The Pittsburgh Flying Club offers a well-maintained aircraft at very competitive hourly rates based on tachometer time. Our airplane is available for use anytime that no other member is flying and can be reserved for overnight or multi-day trips. We offer the camaraderie of like-minded pilots, share the responsibilities of aircraft ownership, meet regularly to discuss club business and aviation issues, and attend AOPA and FAA safety seminars as a group.
Flight Training
If you're not a pilot but are interested in learning to fly, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association has useful getting started information and there are a number of flight schools in the Pittsburgh area. Any club officer can recommend one to you on request.
